Business System Consulting
|press release|
Zach McNaughtan developed a business intelligence dashboard to track key progress indicators (KPIs) for the Presidential Ambassador organization at Southern Utah University. Presidential Ambassadors are the face of student recruitment at the university giving campus tours, hosting prospective students overnight, and participating in recruiting visits. Starting fall of 2017 the organization began using Zach’s dashboard system called Nestrics to collect and display data. Nestrics allows all team members to view the dashboard from any internet connected device. The data and dashboard are an integral part of executive leadership weekly meetings where team culture and team performance are discussed.
The Nestrics system drives leadership decisions at multiple levels within the organization. Data is collected each week via a survey distributed on Slack. Survey questions include things like the number of tours given, a rating of team culture, overall happiness, and the number of additional recruiting task performed. Individuals can view filtered data to see if they are on track to hit semester requirements and personal goals. The entire team has access to data on progress towards newly implemented team recruiting goals. Committee leads can view the data of those in their committee to help them progress in the organization and to gather feedback on how overall team culture can improve. The executive team uses all of the data to see trends, attitudes, and overall team health. Every individual on the team is exposed to the system in some way.
The system continues to expand and adapt to the needs of the team. Specialized reports are generated from the data as requested by various leaders within the organization. Nestircs has facilitated an increased focus on improving and defining team culture. The reception to the data collection and visualization has been overwhelmingly positive according to the Presidential Ambassador Advisor Amie Tukuafu, Assistant Director of Admission and Recruitment at Southern Utah University.
Zach McNaughtan is a senior at Southern Utah University majoring in accounting with a minor in finance. The Nestics system was born from Zach’s personal love of technology. He is in the process of creating a business system consulting firm called Peakology that seeks to help companies improve their peak performance.
